Prayercast For Teachers: Overcoming Observations, Walk-Throughs, And Burnout

Teachers Who Pray | Prayercast

Prayer is a powerful method of communicating with God, and during times of prayer, God can and does communicate with the one praying. The Holy Bible is the Word of God by which God communicates with us and is the standard by which we should test our plans and actions. Christian communication with God in prayer is a necessity. Pray in every situation (Phil 4:6), pray without ceasing (1 Thess 5:17), and pray without giving up (Luke 18:1). Educators continue to abide in God’s presence with intentional prayers for your teaching practices.

Please join Teachers Who Pray as we continue to pray intentional prayers for teachers. Using the Adoration Confession Thanksgiving Supplication (ACTS) Prayer Model, this week’s Supplication prayer will focus on Teacher Observations, Classroom Walk-Through, and Teacher Burnout.

Please join Teachers Who Pray in implementing our Prayer Power for 15 minutes (1% of your daily minutes) for teachers on the Weekly Monday Evening Prayer Call 7-7:15 pm, CT.

Prayercast For Teachers: Overcoming Observations, Walk-Throughs, And Burnout

Prayer Of Adoration

Our Father who art in heaven, holy and sacred is your name. No one else is higher mightier and lovelier than you. Your presence fills us with awe and wonder and there exists no words to fully and completely describe your character, but we know it because of all the ways you have shown yourself to us. We know you to be the author of life in the ancient of days.

Lord, we know you to be the keeper of our souls and our defender and guardian. Father, the God you are sinless without pride and perfect. You are our just in time God. While we were yet sinners, you died for us, scorning the cross and taking upon yourself every single one of our sins. You, oh Jesus, rescued us, and so we praise you, our helper and friend.

From Psalm 89, we read, “The heavens praise your wonders, Lord. Your faithfulness, too, in the assembly of the holy ones. For who in the skies above can compare with the Lord who is like the Lord among the heavenly beings. In the council of the Holy Ones, God is greatly feared. He is more awesome than all who surround Him. Who is like you, Lord God Almighty? You, Lord Almighty, and your faithfulness surrounds you.”

Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne. Love and faithfulness go before you. Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim you, who walk in the light of your presence, Lord. They rejoice in your name all day long. They celebrate your righteousness. For you are their glory and strength, and by your favor, you shall exalt our horn. Indeed, our shield belongs to the Lord, our king to the holy one of Israel. Praise be the Lord forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer Of Confession

Prayer of Confession. Father God, we boldly come to you today with this prayer of confession. We bless you and praise your name. We praise and thank you that we can come to you and boldly confess our sins. Father God, we confess at times, we don’t put you first. We focus on what we can see instead of what you have done, what you are doing or what you will do. You are faithful to your word and we confess that we don’t always seek and trust in your will and your word.

We confess that we need help with this, Father God. We know that we cannot keep going forward with our own strength, Father, but we need your strength, joy, peace, guidance, gentleness, and faithfulness. We confess that we need your Holy Spirit to walk in these things and have these fruits develop in us, but we don’t always do these things.

Father God, we confess that we sin knowingly and, at times, unknowingly. We confess that we do not always seek your kingdom first but as a secondary item on a list of things to do. We know that when we come to you, you forgive us of all of our sins and the connection that we have with you remains intact through your grace and through the blood of Jesus.

Father God, we confess that we need help with treating others as you would have us treat them. Whether it is a rude coworker, harsh administration, or a child showing resistance to classroom management or academics, you call us to love everyone. We don’t always walk in this love. We don’t always live in this love and we do not always operate with this fruit of love.

Father, help us love others like you love us, seeing the best in them, forgiving them and doing all we can to help them. You are saying your word that love covers a multitude of sins. Father God, we ask right now for forgiveness and pray that you help us to forgive others as you forgive us. Let our forgiveness be true, genuine, without hesitation and complete. Let us operate and walk in that forgiveness, Father God, so much so that it becomes a part of us that we don’t even have to think about it. When we do have trouble forgiving, God, then we know we can come to you and that you will continue to grow that seed in us and prude us of anything that is not of you. This we pray right now in the name of your son Jesus. Amen.

Father God, we ask right now for forgiveness and pray that You help us to forgive others as You forgive us. Click To Tweet

Prayer Of Thanksgiving

Prayer of Thanksgiving. Dear Heavenly Father, we come to you to give you thanks. This is the day that you have made. We will rejoice and be glad in it. Father, we enter your gates with thanksgiving and your courts with praise. We give thanks to you and we bless your name. Lord, you are good. Your steadfast love endures forever. Your faithfulness lasts for generations. We thank you that you are equipping us, those you have called to be educators who are your saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ. We thank you that you are showing us how to speak the truth and love. We thank you that we are joined and held together by every joint with which we are equipped and when each part is working properly, this makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.

We are grateful, Lord, and we give thanks for all our students, those who are quiet and those who talk and talk, those who are excited about learning and those who we bring before you and prayer regularly because we are not sure how to help them learn or how to help them retain what they learn. We are grateful, Lord, and we give thanks for the staff members who work in the main office, the staff members who greet visitors at the security desk. The staff members who work so hard each day to maintain our buildings and to feed our students.

We are grateful, Lord, and we give thanks for the parents, guardians and caretakers of our students. We are grateful, Lord, and we give thanks for the administrators, supervisors, curriculum writers, professional development creators, union representatives, school board members, school district leaders, school security and law enforcement officers, transportation managers and providers. Lord, we are thankful for all the moving pieces and organizational systems that need to work together each day of each school year for all of these things we give you thanks. Amen.

Prayer Of Supplication

Prayer of Supplication. This prayer of supplication is specific to teachers who are being observed and evaluated, having a district classroom walkthrough and those teachers who are feeling burned out. Be careful for nothing but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving. Let your requests be made known unto God, and the peace of God that passes all understanding shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:6 through 7. God, we bring to you our request along with thankful hearts for what you have already done and for what you are going to do, and we receive the peace of God, which will be a guard and protector of our hearts and minds. Lord, bless teachers who give their heart to teaching. Thank you for the special gift that you have given them and for giving them a spirit of grace and compassion. May they have the strength and endurance to perform their many tasks, and may they know and feel deep gratitude for those whom they teach.

Lord, we know that Christian teachers are blessed and anointed of God to carry out the assignment of educating the young. Deliver teachers from their anguish and torment. The Holy Spirit guides and orders the directions of these teachers. Lord God, inspire and show teachers how to foster a positive and supportive learning environment where students feel empowered and engaged.

Help teachers to frequently build a sense of community and establish clear expectations to enhance the learning experience for everyone involved. Let those who are a part of the walkthrough team view classrooms with nurturing spaces where students can thrive and grow, both academically and personally. Lord, help teachers to move away from worry to prayer no matter what happens. Help teachers to substitute their worries with prayers. Rather than be anxious, let teachers look up to the heavens and talk to you.

Lord, we thank you for your grace and the ability to make this transition. Each time worry comes, help teachers to turn their concerns into prayers. We decree teachers shall pray instead of worrying. God, we request that you would grant teachers godly wisdom that is pure, peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering and without hypocrisy.

James 3:17. Lord, we ask that your presence and wisdom will be with teachers during varying observations. Lord, help teachers to prepare lessons that provide clear context and demonstrate the goal of the lesson. It’s the relationship to state the curriculum or any particular aspect of the lesson which we would like the observers to notice.

Lord, allow the technology to work as it should during teacher observations and walkthroughs. Lord, help teachers to think fast on their feet and to be prepared when a backup plan, if, for some reason, a shift in a lesson needs to occur. Lord, help teachers to not put on a show but put on an authentic lesson that continues to benefit the academic needs of the students and fits into what is currently being taught so that students aren’t wondering why they’re learning something totally unrelated to what they’ve been studying.

Lord, teachers use the best lesson strategies which their students are familiar with and to check for their understanding and to answer their questions. Lord, teach us with our cues to encourage student participation. Lord, let teachers’ interactions show a positive relationship they have with their students. Lord, help teachers to use wait and think time to allow students to think before volunteering and answering.

Lord, allow the students’ behaviors to be on point and to be receptive to the teachers or their peers. Remind us about the expected classroom behavior. Lord, let the administrator and district observers be like in Psalm 78:2, who has an upright heart and guides with a skillful hand. We leave you with Ephesians 1:18 through 19 A. “We pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which He has called you, the riches of His glory in inheritance in His holy people and His incomparably great power for us who believe. In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.
